Ruben Kuruvilla, M.D.
Dr. Ruben Kuruvilla, M.D. is a Board Certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and corneal disorders. He attended college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with Honors and Distinction. He earned his medical degree (M.D.) from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
After completing his Internship in Internal Medicine at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC, he went on to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City where he served as Chief Resident. He went on to learn advanced corneal transplant and refractive surgery techniques during his fellowship training at Corneal Associates of New Jersey under the mentorship of some of the most prominent corneal specialists in the nation.
Dr. Kuruvilla provides a full range of medical and surgical eye care including general eye exams, glaucoma and diabetic eye care. His particular interests include Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery using LenSx ® laser technology, CustomVue® with Wavefront Technology (correction calculation) and IFS (blade free) Intralase technology for LASIK and CustomVue® with Wavefront Technology for PRK, as well as treatments for keratoconus such as Intacs™ and collagen cross-linking along with other corneal disorders including Penetrating Keratoplasty and Ultra-Thin DSAEK.
He has published several articles and book chapters in the ophthalmic literature, and has presented his research at prominent national and international symposiums. He is a sub-investigator in the ongoing FDA clinical trials and research at Laser Eye Surgery of Erie.
Dr. Kuruvilla is currently an active member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the New York and Pennsylvania Ophthalmological Society.
