Dr. Ruben Kuruvilla presented a COPE (Council on Optometric Practitioner Education) approved course on Corneal Cross-Linking for Progressive Keratoconus and Corneal Ectasia Following Refractive Surgery for more than 30 optometrists. For the first time, the first and only FDA-approved cross-linking therapy is available in Erie, PA. Corneal cross-linking – using Avedro’s Photrexa products and the KXL System – is used to stiffen corneas that have been weakened by disease or refractive surgery. Without treatment, patients may go on to require corneal transplants.
