If you were not a candidate for LASIK eye surgery prior to iLASIK you could possibly now be a candidate. Given the wavefront technology and bladeless mircokeratome technology additions to LASIK, the doors are now open for some previously unqualified candidates. If you were previously determined to be a LASIK candidate you will most likely also be a candidate for iLASIK. In order to determine candidacy for this procedure please consult with a qualified iLASIK surgeon. Our Erie PA LASIK surgeons will be happy to provide a very thorough eye health examination before determining your candidacy. There are some conditions that will still exclude certain patients from becoming a candidate, however, if you have nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism there is a solid chance that you will be an iLASIK candidate.

Understanding iLASIK by Abbott Medical Optics

iLASIKiLASIK is the new name for a specific combination of technologies making up the all-laser lasik procedure that we have been offering for almost a year now.

iLASIK surgeons now have precise tools to painlessly measure and map the uniqueness of both of your eyes - down to the most minuscule characteristics individual to you. 3D mapping technology literally creates a blueprint (or fingerprint) of your eye, allowing the iLASIK surgeon to then custom-fit the iLASIK procedure for each of your eyes.

The iLASIK procedure itself is revolutionized by the use of two computer-guided lasers - instead of one as in earlier generations of LASIK. The first, ultra-fast laser (Blade free laser) creates a thin corneal flap, which is then folded back to allow the second laser (CustomVue Wavefront Laser with Iris Registration Technology) to correct your vision based on the exact specification/measurements of your eyes.

  • If you are between the ages of 21 and 55 and wear glasses or contact lenses to correct myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism you may be a candidate for the iLASIK procedure

"The laser corrective surgery is probably one of the best decisions I have made in my lifetime. I wore glasses for 34 years, and it is truly a blessing not to wear them anymore. The procedure is short and virtually painless. As a person who has had this done I would recommend laser surgery to anyone who is a candidate and who can afford it. Dr. Haverly's staff was very, very professional and courteous. It is truly a miracle. Thank you."
Mark Jordanm, Coordinator, age 39

"I had laser refractive surgery because I did not want to bother with contacts. I like being able to see clearly when I wake up in the morning and not have to fumble around for glasses. It's wonderful being able to see objects in the distance without aid. I highly recommend Laser Eye Surgery of Erie. The surgery was quick and painless. Dr. Haverly, Dr. Gellis, and the office staff have been wonderful through this experience."
Joanne Troutman, Clerical Worker, age 40
