Howard S. Manasse, MD


 

Dr. Manasse specializes in retinal/vitreous surgery, diabetic retinopathy, and cataract surgery with Laser Eye Surgery of Erie. He was the first surgeon in the area to perform retinal detachment and corneal transplant surgery.

Dr. Manasse received his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Master’s degree in chemistry from Harvard University. He graduated with honors from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, and completed an internship in medicine at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Manasse completed his ophthalmology residency at Boston University Medical Center and was chief resident in his last year. He also did a fellowship in retina/vitreous surgery and medical retinal treatment at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center.

After fellowship, Dr. Manasse moved to Erie, Pennsylvania to establish Laser Eye Surgery of Erie in 1981. Dr. Manasse is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Erie County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.
